What’s wrong with the OC? Nothing. But there’s something very wrong with OC bubble syndrome.
There’s a lot to be said for Orange County ; great weather, beautiful people, flourishing businesses. The world looks over here with a curious glance because there’s so much going on. Too bad that Orange County forgets about the rest of the world. Many inhabitants of the OC live in a bubble, a bubble that is sheltered, safe, and full of predictability. There’s a whole world out th... Continue reading...

The Olympics don’t really
show that we are all equal.
The Olympic Games not only show how
athletic the world is and who is the best of the best but it also causes
controversy. When everyone is playing against each other competitively there
are always going to be sore losers and cocky winners.
If you really
think about it, the Olympics are pretty much a way for countries to say who is
better and who has the strongest, most athletic people. People might be getting
offended by the r... Continue reading...

When will we learn to pick up
after ourselves? Did you know that nearly 3.2 million kilometer of trash
falls into ocean in one day? Our school is no different. T trash falls and you
walk away. It may be the janitor’s duty to pick up the trash that we so
carelessly leave behind, but stop being lazy and pick it up.
Nearly 2,940 pounds of trash is thrown away by your
typical American in one years’ time. When I ask Junior Mariah Contreras,
she said “I hate how people litter. If they... Continue reading...

Modern media has evolved to
represent a darker aspect of American culture. Early last
week, I watched an old episode of The Twilight Zone and noticed something I hadn’t suspected before. As
I watched, I waited for vulgarity. I waited for violence. I waited for the
stable of modern entertainment. They were nowhere to be found.
Later, I
walked in to see my mother watching an episode of the show The Bad Girl’s
Club. Nearly every moment, I heard the
distracting beep that notes vulgarit... Continue reading...

It’s about time something is
said in defense of misjudged skinny women During
my freshman year, I can recall an incident when I was walking in the hallway
and I heard a boy yell at me, “Stop being anorexic!” At first, I didn’t think
much about this rude remark; I just assumed he was kidding. But after that on a
few occasions, some of my friends would come up to me and ask if I was anorexic
because I was so skinny. I didn’t find
my being skinny an issue until I realized oth... Continue reading...

Within the past few years America has fallen on dark times, with a recession sparked by a failed housing market, terrorist attacks, hurricanes, and a war, it’s evident America isn’t at the top of it’s game, but in light of all that America’s governing body still decides that above all other problems Haiti’s wellbeing is the most important, pledging over 100 million dollars, and that doesn’t even count the money raised by foundations such as red cross. ... Should the U.S. send aid to foreign counties? The question isn’t “should the U.S. send foreign aid,” but “how much foreign aid should the U.S. send”. The United States is a prosperous country even with a trillion dollar debt in our midst. We have a better quality of life than most of the entire world’s population. These are populations whose debts are much smaller than ours but whose standards of living are dismal. It may not look like it, but we have the money to provide foreig... Continue reading...
