Secrets: why do we have them? And why do we keep them?

"I don’t have secrets,” is the classic response when asked the question “what is your secret?” While some people may actually believe this, it usually isn’t true.

Everyone has secrets, whether they choose to admit it or not. Our secrets are funny, shocking, deep, hurtful, and sad (the list could go on). No matter what adjective your secrets pertain to, every secret has a story, and every secret holds a piece of its owner....

It seems that the only people one can trust nowadays is themselves, and in many cases they cannot even trust themselves; they simply are their own worst enemy.
